NEURAL DYNAMICS POSTDOC POSITION IN EMOTIONAL WELL-BEING

M3EWB Postdoctoral Position Available

 

M3EWB is seeking a postdoctoral scholar to be involved in a program on the neural mechanisms of emotional well-being (EWB) at the University of Connecticut (1.5-2H away from Boston and NYC). The goal of the program is to examine individual differences in neural networks involved in EWB. The main imaging modality is likely to be multi-person EEG but can include MRI and other techniques based on the postdoctoral fellow’s expertise and interest. In addition, the successful candidate will have the opportunities to publish other papers in the areas of EWB and neuroimaging, develop their own research projects, write grants, conduct outreach, and to learn how to manage federally-funded large-scale projects – we are one of the 6 NIH-funded EWB networks in the country, the M3EWB Network. The postdoctoral fellow and project will be funded by the NIH U24AT011281, UConn Office for the Vice President of Research, and UConn College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Postdoctoral scholars from our labs have gone onto a range of research faculty and imaging director positions at institutions such as Stanford, Caltech, Boston College, and University of Texas.

Faculty involved:

  • Professor Fumiko Hoeft (Director of the Brain Imaging Research Center and expert in neuroimaging)
  • Professor Sandy Chafouleas (Director of Collaboratory on School and Child Health and expert in EWB)
  • Professor Ido Davidesco (expert in EEG and person-to-person neural synchrony).

Required qualifications:

  • PhD or equivalent in cognitive and systems neurosciences, computer science, engineering, psychology, education, or a closely related field
  • Exceptional skills in collecting and analyzing EEG
  • Computational skills, including knowledge of at least one programming language and Unix commands
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Leadership and organizational skills

    Preferred qualifications:

    • Documented history of productivity and leadership
    • Advanced knowledge and expertise in brain-to-brain synchrony data, MRI, and/or statistics, e.g. multivariate statistics, dynamic networks
    • Working with K12 students

      Appointment terms:

      This position is a 12-month position funded by the NIH U24AT011281 grant, UConn Office for the Vice President of Research, and UConn College of Liberal Arts and Sciences with a competitive salary. This is a one-year position that is renewed annually based on performance and availability of funds. It is anticipated that there will be two years of funding to support this position.
